iOS 12: New features & Release Date

Apple has announced to launch iOS 12 in three phases, in the first phase, on the 4th of June, it was launched to paid apple developers. In the second phase, on the 25th of June, the iOS 12 public beta was launched. On 17th September, iOS 12 software was released following the launch event of the iPhone XS. Dual-SIM support:

iOS 12.1 supports dual SIM. eSIM can work alongside your physical SIM on iPhone XS, XR, and XS Max.

Grouped FaceTime Calls

Group FaceTime is a great feature if you have a large social circle where two and 32 participants using iOS 12.1 and later can FaceTime. It lets you add stickers, filters and send messages in the group message chatbox.

Animoji and Memoji

Memoji is a personalized mask that will look like you. It allows you to select your hair color, skin, eye color, and accessories. These clips last up to 30 seconds. The new Animoji masks are Tiger, T-Rex, Koala, and Ghost.

Screen Time update:

The screen time enables you to check how much time you have spent on your phone. This weekly data summary allows you to set time limits for each application. It notifies you when you exceed the set limit.

Measure App:

The iOS 12 comes up with a measurement tool called Measure. This detects real objects and measures them accurately. The application has a camera that enables you to drag a line, tap, and measure objects.

Siri Shortcuts

All apps now have the option “add to Siri” to create a Siri shortcut. It can handle everyday routines. For example, if you are coming home from work, you’ll be able to automatically send messages to your family members. In addition, sir can now translate about 40 languages pairs and has celebrity, schedules, food, and stats knowledge much more expanded.

Grouped Notifications:

Grouped notification is a brilliant feature that brings a bunch of notifications from each app on your lock screen. In order to expand the notifications, you can tap on them. Another feature is the “do not disturb during bedtime feature” that hides notifications on the lock screen so you can’t see them whenever you wake up in the middle of the night.


With this iOS update, you can capture real-time live photographs. You can adjust the depth of field after the image is taken and blur the background as per your liking. It defines crisp smooth edges separating a person from the background.
